Katniss Everdeen- The main character and narrator of the story.Katniss is slender with black hair, grey eyes and olive skin. She is a huntress and sneaks out to hunt for food so that her and her small family may eat. She would do anything for her family and she saves her sister Prim from having to go into the Hunger Games herself.
KATNISS PEETA
Peeta Mellark- The 16 year old male tribute from District 12 who is involved in Katniss's life early in the book. He works at a bakery and makes cakes, and frosts them too. His mother is introduced in the story as a heartless person,but his father is kind and knew Katniss's mother when they were kids and is kind to Prim and Katniss. Peeta and Katniss stay close together and have a bit of a relationship. He is calm and quiet and is not easily bothered.
Gale- Katniss Everdeens closest friend for a number of years. Enjoys hunting illigally for his family , and would like to help start the revolution to stand up against the capitol. He is talented toward being extreamly quite when needed, which helps him hunt. He is 18, (too old for the hunger games) and has three younger siblings, who he desperatlly trys to provide for. Dark hair and grey eyes, he completly loves Katniss. His father died in the same explosion as katniss's father. GALE Prim Everdeen- Prim is a very sweet, polite 12 year old girl who is very giving. Born a healer, like her mother, she's too caring to even hunt. Loved by the whole district and adored by her sister, the iniciont girl could never fend for herself in the burutal areana of the hnger games.
Haymitch- A old, uncaring, alchoholic who was a previous victor in the hunger games. He lives in district 12, and is as deperate as anyone to over power the Capitol, and is willing to act on it.
Cinna- Katniss's stylist who wants the revolution bad enough to risk his own life. He loves and supports Katness very much, and becomes very close friends with her.
Hazel- Mother of 4 children, after her husband died in a horrible mine explosion her goal in life is to support her children. Gale is her oldest who helps very much, but even with his illigal hunting she continually works on the washing of clothes of the town.
Rue- True insperation for Katniss in the areana, she is a deep resemblance of Prim. Twelve years old, tiny, frail Rue was forced into the hunger games with only the talent of jumping from tree to tree keeping her alive. Katniss deeply cares for her and does everything she can to keep her alive, failing miserably. She was from the strict district of 11, and had a bunch of starving younger siblings herself.
